Learn the four-part update

Fix the kings first, group the remaining pieces by side, then process every move in the same order: origin, destination, capture, check.

MEMORIZE

Say the update, not just the move

For Bxc2+: “bishop b3 to c2, knight removed, b3 empty, white king checked.” That sentence is the board update you must retain.

Track eight short legal lines

Each level isolates a new blindfold skill. Hide the board when your picture is ready; the timer is only a backstop.

Level 1: 4 pieces, 3 quiet moves. Track the final move’s origin and destination.

Questions about Blindfold Chess Trainer

How does the blindfold trainer work?

Memorize exact starting squares, hide the pieces, update every announced move, then answer from the final position. The review replays each origin, destination, capture and check.

Do I need to play a full blindfold game?

No. The drills start with four pieces and three quiet moves, then add whole-board tracking, captures and legal-move reconstruction.

What changes between the four levels?

Level 1 tracks the last origin and destination. Level 2 tests touched squares. Level 3 guarantees a capture and asks you to update material. Level 4 tests legal moves from the reconstructed final board.

Why does the board replay the line?

Watching each move land helps you identify the first missed update instead of seeing only a final right-or-wrong result.
