Conversion cue

This is not a speed drill. Count your moves and calculate the defender’s reply.

Convert without hints

Each round starts from a fresh position with a tighter move budget. A draw, loss or missed budget resets the streak.

Questions about Endgame Technique Trainer

Which endgames are included?

Drills cover king and queen versus king, king and rook versus king, two bishops versus king, and practical pawn endings. The lesson track also shows Lucena, Philidor, the classic three-pawn breakthrough and the trébuchet.

What does the move budget measure?

It counts your moves, not seconds. Use it to spot wasted tempi: every move should tighten the net, improve the king or advance the winning pawn without allowing stalemate.

How strong is the defender?

A small browser engine searches legal replies and does not deliberately insert blunders. It is practical resistance, not a tablebase and not proof of the longest possible defense.

Can I practice on a phone?

Yes. The board, tabs and main action dock adapt to narrow screens, and progress stays in the browser.
