I’m Anton Shuravin, a chess content creator and writer. I sat down at a chessboard for the first time when I was six years old, and the game has been part of my life ever since, more than 14 years now. I’m a FIDE-rated club player rather than a professional, but those years of study, online blitz, and over-the-board battles have given me a deep, practical feel for what actually helps a developing player improve.
A few things from my chess background:
- Runner-up at the city championship at age 11
- Over 14 years of play, online and over the board
- FIDE-rated; 1900+ Elo on Lichess in bullet and blitz
- 88 chess lessons recorded for the ChessDoctrine YouTube channel
With White I usually play the Ruy Lopez, the English Opening, and the Réti. With Black I stick to the French Defense and the King’s Indian Defense. Outside of chess, I’m finishing a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics.
On ChessDoctrine I write opening guides, strategy and endgame articles, annotated games, and other lessons for beginner and intermediate players. The goal is always to explain why a move works, not just which move to play. I’m also planning to start coaching and to build simple chess tools for beginners on the site. You can watch my lessons on the ChessDoctrine YouTube channel, and if you want to reach me, email ads.chessdoctrine@gmail.com.
